Program at a Glance
Mentoring Program Expectations
Following the orientation, mentors and mentees are expected to meet once per month for at least one hour for the duration of the program. Meetings can take place remotely via Skype, Zoom, phone, etc. or in person.
We will be distributing three brief (30 minute) surveys to both mentors and mentees throughout the mentoring program to help us monitor effectiveness and track outcomes.
Additional information regarding the kinds of behaviors expected for a successful mentoring relationship for both parties will be covered at the program orientation and are available as part of the mentoring toolkit.
Mentoring Toolkits
A content-rich website with resources to support both mentors and mentees can be found under "Toolkits and Resources." Resources include articles of interest, training materials, sample mentoring plans, and sample mentoring contracts.
Mid-Year Event for Mentees
As a companion to the one-on-one mentoring experience, all mentees will meet mid-way through the program for a speed mentoring event where 3-4 experts will provide mentoring on topics of interest to participants. Feedback from mentees will be obtained in advance to determine topics of interest. I-OÂ faculty and alumni (who are not serving as one-on-one mentors) will serve as speed mentors.
Mentoring Program Graduation
We’ll all join together one last time to celebrate the graduation of mentees from the program and recognize the outstanding contributions of our mentors. Both mentees and mentors are encouraged to attend this fun capstone event, which will be held either virtual or in-person depending on schedules.
